A Texan New Yorker, Amy Botello has spent over 20 years in media, the last decade in sports media, garnering multiple Emmy nominations and 2 wins. She understands the industry from the inside out, but truly shines at the convergence of culture, meaning, everyday beauty and joy - from the food we prepare, to the spaces we inhabit, to the games and media we watch and the communities we cherish.
A passionate fan of the Mets, Knicks, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Longhorns football, she brings her love of sport to her reflections on identity, loyalty, and belonging. In a male dominated space, she offers a unique perspective as both a fan and professional, with humanity and enthusiasm rather than rote analysis.
Amy is a born storyteller, a talent nurtured with studies in English at The University of Texas, storytelling at NYU, and acting experience at the Barrow Group. She writes with emotion, vivid imagery, and humor. Her acting embraces character work, both playful and poignant, exploring small performances that illuminate new perspectives on life and culture.
A long-time Martha Stewart wannabe and southern girl who truly believes food is love, Amy recently launched a cottage bakery in New York, amybhappy bakes. With the spirit of giving modeled by her parents, the budding philanthropist has pledged to donate 20 percent of the bakery’s profits to various charities. She also occasionally develops favorite personal recipes to share online when she isn’t feeding friends and family something delicious from her DIY-ed kitchen. As the daughter of a contractor and homemaker, with beholderism as a core value, she loves to dabble in home design and DIY projects. Her East Village apartment is ever evolving to achieve peak vibrance and coziness.
Her natural curiosity led her to study positive psychology from Harvard Business and Yale, focusing on flourishing, meaning and happiness. The grief of losing her mother, and later her father, left her with the realization that all that matters is the love we put out into the world. It is with this in mind that she lives out her purpose of being refreshing, creating a world in which her joy is productive and her light is impactful.
